NHS Evidence

NHS Evidence has re-launched its website to make it easier to find, access and use high quality information. NHS Evidence is a service that enables access to authoritative clinical and non-clinical evidence and best practice through a web-based portal. It helps people from across the NHS, public health and social care sectors to make better decisions as a result. NHS Evidence is managed by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).

NICE pathways tool

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has launched NICE Pathways - a new online tool for health and social care professionals. NICE Pathways provide quick and easy access, topic by topic, to the range of guidance from NICE, including quality standards, technology appraisals, clinical and public health guidance and NICE implementation tools. Electronic flowcharts allow users to explore NICE recommendations and advice in detail.

Reducing inequalities in mortality

The Department of Health has published ‘A generic workbook to facilitate local partners’ investigation and development of strategic approach to any topic which reduces inequalities in mortality’. This workbook was developed by the Health Inequalities National Support Teams (HINST) with 70 local authorities covering populations in England. Local areas could use this approach when analysing whether population level improvements could be achieved from a set of best-practice and established interventions.

Leadership challenge: new self-assessment tool for all staff

All NHS staff can now take advantage of a self-assessment tool, linked to the new NHS Leadership Framework to review their leadership skills. Launched in June by the Secretary of State for Health, the Leadership Framework is designed to ensure that the whole workforce can have the leadership knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to improve health and care.
