WMTPHN
A community with a concern for the teaching of public health that cuts across organisational boundaries, recognises all levels of the workforce and of education and is serious about learning how it can be done better, through its commitment to sharing knowledge, working together on problems and setting up projects to test ideas, challenge understanding and make improvements.
Our Vision

The West Midlands Regional Teaching Public Health Network will increase the standard, range and availability of public health training in the West Midlands, in order to improve the health of the region’s population

At the Stakeholder event on 31 October 2008 the West Midlands Teaching Public Health Network launched its Public Health Training Needs Assessment Tool (TNAT) for a consultation period of six months.
The West Midland’s TNAT for public health, unlike other tools, which may offer users a check list or series of questions to answer for determining their training needs, is a guideline to a training needs assessment ‘process’ that is highly interactive, inter-professional and focused on understanding public health training needs in the context of delivering improved public health outcomes.
The TNAT is founded on the public health competences detailed in the Public Health Skills and Career Framework (PHSCF), launched in April 2008.

The launch of a public health training needs assessment tool and an interactive session on the ambitious project behind its development – including the six pilot sites, each with a focus on its own public health priority.
