West Midlands Breast Screening Programme

Since October 2001, there has been a West Midlands Breast Screening Health Promotion group. The purpose of this group is to specifically focus on promoting breast screening within the region and to share good practice across the nine screening services.

In 2003, the group developed a Breast Screening Information Sheet. This sheet was sent out to all general practices within the West Midlands with a view to updating their knowledge of breast screening and ensuring a consistent level of understanding.

In 2004, the group launched a General Practice Information Pack. This consists of a number of fact sheets covering the information general practice staff may need to be aware of to be able to answer queries effectively. This pack was launched in Summer 2004 and is being sent out by screening services as and when women from a general practice are being invited for screening.
