The period covered by the main audit is from 1st April to 31st March of the year before the booklet is published. There is a 6-month follow up period from March. This allows women time to complete most of the surgical treatment before the audit data are collected and collated for analysis.

- The number and invasive status of screen detected breast cancers
- Non-operative diagnosis and use of diagnostic open biopsy
- Treatment and size of all cancers
- Waiting time
- Lymph node status, invasive grade and NPI score
- Surgical caseload
- Repeat therapeutic operations
