Cancer Information Service

Registration & Data Quality Module

An extract of data from the WMCIU’s main cancer registration database is taken quarterly to update that held on the WMCIU electronic Cancer Information Service (CIS). Authorised users are able to interrogate, analyse and view all data on this system. The registration and data quality module provides analyses of all cancer registration data for a range of data items.

Appropriate password protection also allows specific authorised users to gain access to the patient identifiable data underlying the analyses. This provides a very useful tool by which to identify missing data items, which can subsequently be sent to the WMCIU to improve the data.

The variables of diagnosis year, organisation, cancer site etc. can be changed depending upon requirements and the data displayed in various ways. The CIS can also provide details of cancer site specialisation and patterns of treatment modality throughout the West Midlands region for each trust and each clinician within that trust.

Click here for more information on obtaining access to the CIS.
