Cancer Information Service

National Cancer Information Service

Each regional cancer registry in England also contributes data to a national Cancer Information Service (national CIS). The national CIS was developed by the UKACR following the success of the West Midlands CIS.

What Can You Do with the National CIS?

The national CIS contains incidence, mortality and survival data for all strategic health authorities, PCTs, cancer networks and local authorities in England. Like the West Midlands CIS, the national CIS can be used to monitor trends in incidence, mortality and survival and to make comparisons between sexes and areas within England. Users can select a range of analyses and variables to produce tables and graphs.

Who Can Use It?

The CIS is accessible over the NHSnet to authorised personnel in West Midlands PCTs, cancer networks and acute trusts.
