2005 Information Request Audit

The CIS was queried 1,139 times in 2005 reducing the number of information requests received to 182 in total. 181 requests were completed in 2005,

  • 39 of these were for patient identifiable data, these requests are mainly for research studies.
  • 19 were for potentially identifiable data, These included requests to investigate alleged cancer clusters.
  • 123 were for non identifiable information such as incidence, mortality and survival.

Requests from cancer networks were most common, followed by clinical audits, PCTs and other research.
The majority of information requests were completed within 20 working days.

A total of 3,516 responses to requests for patient details for the purpose of genetics counselling, were sent,

  • 2,941 of these were from the West Midlands Family Cancer Strategy (WMFACS) for residents of the West Midlands.
  • 575 were from other genetics counselling services across the country for relatives of patients resident outside the West Midlands.

2,211 patients were successfully traced. Over 95% of requests for genetics counselling were completed within 10 working days.
